Poo is probably my girls favourite word. I say probably because the word bum is also very high on the list!
It is a word they often say in anger. (Thank goodness they don’t know any worse words, right?!)It is a word whispered when my girls are being cheeky. And the phrase ‘Mum I done a poo’ is too often shouted loudly in public bathrooms. (mortifying!)
As parents we all have some incredible and hilarious poo stories. It is one of the many signs of an experienced parent. The days of going for a cheeky cocktail and having a gossip are gone. Instead parenthood is all about strong coffee and swapping worst poo stories.

Why am I talking about poo?
During your newborn session your baby will poo. It is inevitable. As soon as that nappy comes off and they get into the perfect pose on my beanbag the poo will strike.
I am never surprised. To be honest I am more surprised if we have a whole session without a poop incident in some form or other!
If you baby does poo during a session I use it as the perfect excuse to share a horrendous poo story about my children!
I also use it as an excuse to swap out a backdrop or prop and use alternative colours during your session. In the studio I have a huge range of backdrops from greys and neutrals to funky patterns and florals. I always like to encourage parents to have a rummage through my boxes of drops and choose a few that we can use during the newborn session.
So I would like you to feel reassured that poo is so normal and all newborn photographers deal with poo every week.
Disclaimer: I cannot promise that parents will come away without poop on them. It is rare but this sometimes does happen! Whoops!
